Live Your Own Authentic Life

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs

    1. Hey Quinn! How are you? Are you staying clear of the stalkers?

Completely agree. It can be extremely difficult to live authentically. What are you finding to be challenging?

For me, I think you have to recognize firstly that it is not a yes or no state, it’s a continuum. So it’s a matter of slowly aligning aspects of your life with who you really are (which I think changes over time). Many of us don’t know our authentic self, I believe, because we are too quick to look for external validation. Peer pressure is real. But be alone. Be quiet. Listen to your heart. When you find some piece of your life that you think you might need to alter to more closely align your actions with your self or your beliefs, just do a small test. Try it out. How did it feel? If good, keep going in that direction. If not, no harm, no foul. You’ve learned something new about yourself… and that, too, will guide you better going forward! For me, a good example is meditation. I tried it. It seemed to offer me something that I needed, so I continue to practice and shape it into the type of meditation that works best for who I am right now and where I want to go.
